Valor’s National Special Response Teams (NSRT) deployed to flood ravaged Nashville

The communities throughout Nashville, Tennessee have witnessed record rain fall levels and flooding that reached historical proportions in early May this year. Parts of the downtown district were devastated by the Cumberland River which crested at 12’ above flood stage. Many tourist attractions, historical buildings, resorts and other business were affected by the flooding. One of the resort properties where we manage the security services was one of those businesses. Valor Security Services senior management collaborated with the resort’s corporate personnel to develop a response and recover operation plan for this natural disaster. In addition to an evacuation of the property, part of the plan included Valor’s NSRT which quickly deployed to the resort to supplement the local security staff and ensure that the property was secure. On May 3, 2010, our closest Regional Vice President responded to the property with a small advance team of NSRT members to assess the situation. Over the next several weeks, NSRT members from across the Southeast and Midwest responded to Nashville to aid in the recovery operation phase of this natural disaster. At this point, the recovery process is continuing and Valor NSRT members will remain on site until it is completed. NSRT’s success is due to Valor Security Services’ ability to manage its national resources and focus these efforts and resources at a local, community level.

National Special Response Teams

Each year, teams are formed and specially trained to be ready to respond anywhere in the United States in the event of a natural or man-made disaster or other significant event requiring concentrated emergency response. This program originated with the Hurricane Katrina ground zero response operation and has been activated numerous times since then as a result of other hurricanes, earthquakes and flooding.
