Block by Block Gives Downtown Santa Monica a Make-over

The California Chronicle published an article on Block by Block’s Ambassador program in Downtown Santa Monica. Read the article below:

Santa Monica – The Bayside District and its proper owners are giving Downtown Santa Monica a well-deserved makeover. The face-lift on The Third Street Promenade and surrounding areas include enhanced maintenance as well as ambassadors, or hosts, trained to welcome and provide information to visitors in order to make the district more inviting.

The Ambassador program is funded by the new Property Based Assessment District, which was founded two years ago in order to improve services in the Downtown Santa Monica area. The Ambassador program was created to provide a welcoming and safe atmosphere in the district. The program will coordinate with the Santa Monica Maintenance staff and the Santa Monica Police Department to help maintain the area. They will be trained to provide information to Promenade visitors, offering to escort employees, and report maintenance problems that may occur in the shopping area. Present on the street from 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m, the Ambassadors will serve as the eyes and ears of the area. They will be moving about on segways, roaming the area with a watchful eye and friendly smile.
